Hard Work: is it really worth it?

Updated: Oct 27, 2019

I've just started University and the step-up from College is quite stark and possibly even frightening. The soundtrack of my first month has been hard work! That message has literally been pumped into our psyche and it probably haunts my subconscious... AND It’s only been one month!

"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man". Proverbs 6:6-11

But when I remember my end goal - TO GRADUATE with more than just a degree, these challenges pale into insignificance. To others, this work and effort may seem odd, like you going to the library on a Saturday, on a Saturday!? Or you reading your Bible at 6 on a Friday instead of prepping for the customary Friday night out. But 'a man without a goal, lacks vision, he thinks he is gazing at the stars when all that's in front of him are headlights from the impending doom of his foolishness'.

The Bible encourages us in Galatians 6:9 to 'not get tired of doing good'. At just the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessing'. So, also do good by yourself, commit your end goal to God and keep grinding for you can do all things through Christ who gives You strength. Your future self is depending on the decisions that you make today.

"A man without a goal, lacks vision, he thinks he is gazing at the stars when all that's in front of him are headlights from the impending doom of his foolishness"Kenneth Jimah
